Who Needs Driver's Ed in Ohio?
Drivers Under 18
Ohio's current requirements include:
TIPIC.
24 hours of approved online or classroom theory.
8 professional behind-the-wheel hours.
50 supervised driving hours.

Drivers Ages 18 Through 20
Beginning drivers ages 18 through 20 must also complete the 24-hour theory course, eight professional hours, and 50 supervised hours including 10 at night.
Beginning Drivers Age 21 or Older
Standard Class D driver education is generally not required before an ordinary first test attempt.
After a failed first road or maneuverability attempt, Ohio generally requires abbreviated adult training before another attempt.
Rules for Taking Driver's Ed Online in Ohio
Ohio's current online rules require at least 24 hours of theory and no more than four hours of online instruction in a calendar day.
Online programs must use identity controls and a comprehensive final examination. The current final consists of 50 questions and requires at least 75 percent correct.
