Clayton approved ODOT work to resurface US 40 from Diamond Mill Road to Hoke Road.

State Route 48 / Main Street
SR 48 follows Main Street through Clayton and is a major north-south corridor.
The city authorized 2026 construction administration and contracting for a Main Street/SR 48 pedestrian improvement project involving sidewalk, ADA ramps, curb and gutter, storm sewer and street lighting from Heathcliff Road toward Hillgrove Avenue.
STATUS: 2026 PEDESTRIAN-INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT.
Future Main Street Phase 2
Clayton is separately designing a future SR 48/Main Street pedestrian project extending from Heathcliff Road south toward Old Salem Road.
Construction is currently anticipated in 2029.
STATUS: DESIGN/FUTURE PROJECT.
Do not confuse this with the active 2026 sidewalk work.
Hoke Road Widening
Clayton authorized Hoke Road Widening Phase 1 in March 2026.
This gives students another current construction corridor to monitor.
2026 City Paving Program
Clayton also approved a general 2026 Paving Program in March.
Students should check city notices before assuming familiar neighborhood road conditions remain unchanged.
