Ohio Driver's Ed Requirements

Under-18 drivers generally need:

24 hours of driver education.

8 hours of professional behind-the-wheel training.

50 hours of supervised driving.

At least 10 nighttime practice hours.

A TIPIC held for at least six months.

Required testing.

Ages 18 through 20 also have the standard education and supervised-driving requirements.

Online Rules

Ohio's online driver education rule became effective August 1, 2026. It permits approved online beginning-driver education. (Ohio Laws and Rules)
